Dr. Julia Tschugg studied mineral rescources engineering at the Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL) with subsequent degrees in mining and mineral processing.

Her degree theses were all carried out in the collaboration with Austrian and international industrial partners. She studied the effects of high voltage pulse treatment on the processing of an industrial mineral during her interdisciplinary dissertation. Her Master thesis focused on the  overburden removal in an open pit talc mine. In this context she developed an alternative mining concept for the drill-blast-load-haul cycle and implemented it during pilot trials. For her first bachelor thesis she did technical and economical studies of an excavation method in a marl quarry and for her second bachelor thesis she carried out after-treatment studies on the residue of in-situ leaching, which is used as backfill in an underground mine.

During her studies she did internships in Germany, France, Canada and South Africa and deepened her knowledge during her employment at the Department Mineral Resources Engineering (MUL) for five and a half years in total where she carried out various industrial research projects and teaching activities. Furthermore, she worked for two an a half years in the field of medical engineering for an OEM supplier of polymer-based consumables.

In mid-2018 Dr. Julia Tschugg joined Hofstetter, Schurack & Partner in the field of intellectual property rights.

She is fluent in German and English and has knowledge of French.
