Dr. Alfons Hofstetter studied geology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich with a focus on sedimentology, petrography and geochemistry. Upon completion of his degree he obtained a PhD at the Institute of Geosciences of the LMU in the field of geochemistry. In this capacity he wrote numerous publications and conference papers.

Since 1988 Dr. Hofstetter has been active in the field of intellectual property protection and was admitted as German Patent Attorney in 1994. In 1995 he was also admitted as representative before the European Patent Office and was registered in the list of representatives at the Office for the Harmonization of the Internal Market (OHIM) in 1996. Since 2013 he has been temporary representative before the Austrian Patent Office. Dr. Hofstetter has been a partner with the firm since 1994. He is a member of the German and European Patent Bar, FICPI, ECTA, AIPPI and INTA.

The focus of Dr. Hofstetter’s practice is on the drafting, prosecution and enforcement of technical and intellectual property rights, in particular of national and international patents and utility models. Dr. Hofstetter is also active in the field of national and international trademark and design patent law. The majority of his clients are in the fields of chemistry, packaging, medical, drive, and plastics technology, biotechnology as well as materials engineering.

Dr. Hofstetter speaks German, English, and Spanish.
