Ms. Kühr studied biology with focus on plant physiology and molecular biology, and the additional aspects of microbiology and biochemistry at Kiel University. She completed her studies 2002 with a diplomy thesis on gene expression of enzymes that are involved in the synthesis of tocopherols.

After completion of her studies at Kiel University, Ms. Kühr worked at Hohenheim University at the Institute for Plant Breeding doing research on heterosis in crop plants. She worked on gene expression of key enzymes of several metabolic pathways in maize. Here tasks were, among others, sequence analyses, gene expression studies, and studies on enzyme expression.

Since 2011 Vera Kühr is admitted as Patentanwältin (German Patent Attorney), and registered in the list of representatives of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Since 2014, Ms. Kühr is admitted as European Patent Attorney. The focus of her practice is on the prosecution and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the fields of life science, medical technology, and fields of automobile technology.

Ms. Kühr speaks German and English.
