Dr. Jürgen Wurm studied physics with a focus on micro- and nanostructure physics at the University of Regensburg and at Duke University in Durham, USA. After his studies he received his doctorate at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of Regensburg and spent several research stays at Sabanci University in Istanbul. His dissertation "Dirac fermions in graphene nanostructures: Edge effects on spectral density and quantum transport" deals with chaotic quantum systems and semiclassical theory for graphene structures. He is the lead author of several publications and conference contributions resulting from his diploma thesis and doctorate.

In the customer-specific quality management of a leading manufacturer of optoelectronic semiconductors, Mr. Wurm accompanied international development projects before he began his work in the field of intellectual property at a Munich law firm. At the beginning of 2017 he passed the German Patent Attorney Examination and since 2018 he has been a registered representative before the European Patent Office. From 2017, he worked in the patent department of a company in the field of power engineering, where he dealt with grant and validity proceedings of patents and designs, intellectual property right evaluations, infringement opinions and employee invention law issues.

Since 2019 he has been a patent attorney at Hofstetter, Schurack & Partner. He mainly deals with inventions in the fields of electronics, sensor technology, optics, semiconductor technology, control technology, communications technology and software-based inventions.

Mr. Wurm is a member of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the European Patent Institute (EPI) and the German Physical Society (DPG). He speaks German and English.
