Armin Lechner studied physics with a focus on optics, laser technology and plasma physics at the Technical University, Munich. He wrote his diploma thesis on a special NASA research project which included the material characteristics of space vehicles when reentering the Earth’s atmosphere. After his graduation in physics he was in charge of a cooperation project formed by international companies in the field of thin-layer technology.

Armin Lechner further studied economics with a focus on technology and innovation management in Hagen and Munich. His thesis was concerned with R&D benchmarking. At the same time studied law in Hagen, Düsseldorf and Munich.

Armin Lechner started working in intellectual property law in the patent department of a major international corporation, followed by a position in a Munich patent law firm. Since 2004 Armin Lechner has been admitted as German Patent Attorney and since 2006 as representative before the European Patent Office. In 2005 he joined Hofstetter, Schurack & Partner and became a partner in early 2007. Since 2013 he has also been temporary representative before the Austrian Patent Office.

The focus of his practice is on technical protective rights. Besides conducting application and examination procedures, amongst his essential tasks are also opposition, appeal and infringement proceedings before the offices and courts. Armin Lechner moreover advises clients in economic issues, providing in particular portfolio analyses, property right evaluations and protection strategies etc.

Mr. Lechner is member of the German Patent Law Society, of EPI and FICPI.

He speaks German, English and French.
